Assessing Your Needs
Embarking on any educational program means making decisions about how you will learn as well as what you want to learn.
Before you register for a course, you should give serious consideration to your commitment to a long-term educational plan, as well as how you will fit new responsibilities related to studying and completing assignments into your life.
What do you want to accomplish? Do you want a career change? Are you looking for a credential to help you seek promotion in your current line of work? Or are you simply interested in expanding your education? How you answer these questions will help you choose the program that's best for you.
To be a successful online learner, all you need is: To be self-motivated. It takes time to complete a course.
To be goal-oriented. It takes commitment to the end goal to keep working toward one or two courses at a time.
To be self-disciplined. Online learning means setting a study schedule and managing your time effectively on your own.
To be committed. You will need to devote 4 to 6 hours for each course.
To be comfortable with technology. While you don't need to be a computer expert, you should be comfortable with using the Internet and following written instructions on how to access or download different software programs.
